FILM: 18th Annual Film Award Nominees

12YearsaSlaveThe nominations for the 18th Annual OFTA Film awards were announced on Sunday, January 26, 2014.

Best Picture nominee 12 Years a Slave led the nominations with 17 with Nebraska coming in second with 12. The eight other films nominated for Best Picture are American Hustle, Before Midnight, Blue Is the Warmest Color, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Her, Inside Llewyn Davis and The Wolf of Wall Street. All five Best Director nominees were among this year’s Best Picture nominees, the nominations going to Alfonso Cuaron, Spike Jonze, Steve McQueen, Alexander Payne and David O. Russell.

Gravity pulled in eleven nominations to secure third place among the nominees while fourth was a tie between American Hustle and Captain Phillips, both earning nine nominations.

The winners will be revealed on Sunday, February 9, 2014.
