TV: 23rd Annual Television Award Nominations

The nominations for the 23rd Annual OFTA Television Awards have been announced.

Best Drama Series nominee Game of Thrones earned nineteen nominations this year, the most nominated program of the season. Ava DuVernay’s limited series When They See Us came in second with 17 nominations.

Limited series Chernobyl came in third with 15 nominations while two other limited series rounded out the top five with 14 nominations apiece: The Haunting of Hill House and Sharp Objects.

Competing against Game of Thrones for Best Drama series are Better Call Saul (11), The Good Fight (4), Killing Eve (10), Pose (12), Succession (13), and This Is Us (7).

Joining Chernobyl, The Haunting of Hill House, Sharp Objects, and When They See Us in the limited series category are The Act (2), Escape at Dannemora (7), and Fosse/Verdon (12).

In Best Comedy Series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel came out on top with 13 nominations. It was nominated alongside Barry (11), Fleabag (11), GLOW (6), The Good Place (10), Schitt’s Creek (6), and Veep (11).

For Motion Pictures Made for Television, Deadwood: The Movie was tops with 13 citations. It will compete with Amor Vincit Omnia (Sense8) (1), Bandersnatch (Black Mirror) (1), King Lear (2), My Dinner With Hervé (1), Native Son (1), and The Romanoffs (2).

The winners will be announced on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
