TV: 26th Annual Television Award Winners

The winners for the 26th Annual OFTA Television Awards have been announced.

The White Lotus, which received a total of 8awards, was tied for the most honored program of the year. It won Best Limited or Anthology Series, as well as citations for Murray Bartlett in Supporting Actor, Jennifer Coolidge in Supporting Actress, Casting & Ensemble, Directing, Writing, Music Composition, and Picture Editing. Fire Island won the award for Best Motion Picture while Michael Keaton received the award for Best Actor for Dopesick and Amanda Seyfried was named Best Actress for The Dropout.

In the drama series categories, the year’s second most honored program was Succession, which collected 6 awards, winning Best Drama Series, Actor (Jeremy Strong), Supporting Actor (Matthew Macdadyen), Guest Actress (Harriet Walter), and Casting & Ensemble. The most honored program was Stranger Things, which tied The White Lotus with 8 awards, all in the craft categories: Multi-Camera Series Cinematography, Production Design – Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Costume Design – Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Makeup – Prosthetic, Makeup – Period and/or Character, Sound Mixing in a Series, Sound Editing in a Series, and Special Visual Effects. Melanie Lynskey was awarded Best Actress for Yellowjackets. Rhea Seehorn was one of two winners for Better Call Saul, taking Best Supporting Actress with the show also winning Best Writing. Euphoria received two awards with Colman Domingo as Best Guest Actor and the award for Best Makeup – Contemporary. Squid Game won in Directing with other awards for Picture Editing and Stunt Coordination.

On the comedy side, the first season of Abbott Elementary was the year’s top comedy program winner earning four prizes, including Best Comedy Series. The show also won Awards for Supporting Actress (Sheryl Lee Ralph), Casting & Ensemble, and Writing. Best Actor went to Martin Short for Only Murders in the Building, Jean Smart was named Best Actress for Hacks, Henry Winkler received the award for Best Supporting Actor in Barry, Nathan Lane won Best Guest Actor for Only Murders in the Building, and Laurie Metcalf was Best Guest Actress for Hacks. Barry also won for Best Directing and Picture Editing.

Hall of Fame

In addition to awarding the best in television across the past season, the members of the Online Film & Television Association annually select programs, performers, and behind the scenes artists to induct into their Hall of Fame. The tabulations for this year’s inductees are still being completed. You can find the recipients listed on the individual hall of fame pages once that is completed.
