Television Hall of Fame Inductees: Theme Songs

This area is currently under construction. Please find below the current list of inductees as well as the year in which they were inducted into the Hall of Fame by the members of the OFTA. Please note that the most recent additions have been listed like this. We are working on an area to give more details on our selections.

EDITORIAL NOTE: Hall of Fame inductees are selected based on three primary considerations: the historic, aesthetic, and cultural significance of each inductee. Some productions were byproducts of a certain time period and those views are reflective that era. When we look historically at the productions of the past, we must acknowledge the historic relevance of certain films even if the contents of those films have become problematic at best or downright offensive at worst. While we aren’t able to change the selections of the past, our organization pledges to do what it can to promote inclusion and tolerance. Further, we encourage you to seek out knowledge on each film and understand not only its importance to cinema history, but also the nature of its offenses. History will write itself based on the morality of the present, but only through the reflection of the past can we see where we have come from and where we are going to. A film’s controversiality may impact its perception in the framework of history, but we need to make sure that history impacts the perception of the present and learn from whatever mistakes were made. Ignoring those mistakes only enables the worst impulses of history to be forgotten and enables the commission of such atrocities in the future.
